 Professor Thyago

Professor Thyago Martins is our head professor here at TM BJJ ACADEMY. He is a black belt under Rubens "Cobrinha Charles' and he started his BJJ training since 2000.  In 2016, he moved to Orange County, California from his hometown Manaus, Brazil. He has an impressive competition resume which includes winning a World Championship, Pan Ams Champion and Brazilian National champion. Also, he coaches many professional MMA fighters from UFC and PFL.

 Coach John began formal Jiu-Jitsu training in 2006 under Professor Omar De Lucca. He joined Professor Martins in 2020 at the UFC Gym. Coach John is married with two adult children and recently retired from public service. He is a Jiu Jitsu enthusiast who believes that Jiu Jitsu promotes a positive life by reducing stress, staying physically fit, and maintaining the ability of self defense. Coach John enjoys sharing his passion for Jiu Jitsu with others.
